AUDITION NOTICE

ARSENIC AND OLD LACE
 

  

The Athens in DeLand will hold additional auditions for ARSENIC & OLD LACE on November 17 and 18 starting at 5:30pm each evening. Auditions are by appointment only. To make your audition appointment email Auditions@AthensDeland.com 
The Athens Theatre is located at 124 N Florida Ave. DeLand, FL 32720 

The following roles are open for consideration:

Jonathan Brewster: Nephew of Abby and Mrtha Brewster, Mortimer’s older brother that has been absent for many years, now on the run from the police.
Jonathan is a psychopath who has had plastic surgery and now looks like Boris Karloff. Sinister. His presence brings a chill. He Walks, talks, and looks like Boris Karloff.

Teddy Brewster: Mortimer's older brother.
 Lives with Abby and Martha, bears a strong resemblance to Theodore Roosevelt,
 thinks he is Theodore Roosevelt. Generally happy, a bit odd, energetic, and boisterous.
 Wears a thick moustache.

Elaine Harper: An attractive girl in her twenties and Mortimer’s fiancée, Elaine is the daughter of the Rev. Dr. Harper. She is surprisingly wise in the ways of the world for a minister's daughter.

Dr. Einstein: Jonathan's companion and plastic surgeon; successfully altered Jonathan's face on numerous occasions for sinister purposes. Ratty and lives in the "pleasant haze of alcohol." Timid in Jonathan's presence, but still dangerous.

The Rev. Dr. Harper/ Mr. Witherspoon: actor will double roles
Rev. Harper: minister who lives next door. Elaine's father.
Mr. Witherspoon: stern and severe-looking superintendent of Happy Dale Sanitarium

 Mr. Gibbs/Lieutenant Rooney: actor will double roles.

Mr. Gibbs: older gentleman looking to rent a room from the Brewster sisters.
Lt. Rooney: fellow police officer, superior officer to Brophy, Klein, and O'Hara. Gruff, dominant presence.

Officer Klein: Police Officer

Performances for ARSENIC & OLD LACE will be February 23,24,25*, March 1,2,3,4*,8,9,10,11*,15,16,17,and 18* at the Historic Athens Theatre. All shows start at 7:30p, except for Sunday *Matinees at 2:30p. Rehearsals will begin the week of January 22. 

NOTES/WHAT TO BRING: Actors may attend any evening and will be asked to do the following:

•Prepare a one minute (or less) comedic monologue which showcases Acting Ability.                

• Typed Resume and Headshot (preferable).
