 “Jazz Appreciation Month Celebration”

The final concert of the Stetson University Jazz Ensemble’s season will celebrate Jazz Appreciation Month by focusing attention on the talented students and faculty members of the School of Music. Selections for the evening have been specifically chosen from the broad spectrum of jazz history and are designed to feature the many fine soloists within the jazz ensemble while also highlighting the group as a whole. Joining the instrumentalists for this evening’s performance are vocalists Emily Vitale and Erika Sassman, who will pay homage to Ella Fitzgerald on the 100th anniversary of her birth. In addition, we are proud to feature two of our esteemed faculty members, Mr. Tom Macklin, Adjunct Professor of Trumpet, and Dr. Manuel de Murga (piano), Professor of Composition, as well as a father-son tribute to Charlie Parker performed by Eddie and Aquila Marshall.
