DESCRIPTION:Bad Moon Rising\, a Classic Tributes Live band\, invites you to take a trip down the Mississippi Delta as they pay tribute to one of the greatest rock bands North America has ever produced—Creedence Clearwater Revival. CCR was an American roots rock band whose sound blended southern\, country\, and blues rock. This unique mix\, along with the distinctive vocals\, wailing guitar\, and songwriting style of John Fogerty\, gave birth to what became known as swamp rock\, with CCR as its pioneers. \nDuring a prolific four-year period between 1969 and 1971\, CCR released fourteen consecutive top 10 singles and five consecutive top 10 albums\, including two that reached number one. Bad Moon Rising will take you on a journey through the band’s headlining performance at the 1969 Woodstock Festival\, their rise to fame\, and their eventual acrimonious disbandment in 1972. \nJoin us as we travel with the band up around the bend\, run through the jungle\, and venture into the bayou—heading home to Green River. DESCRIPTION:Don your leather jacket\, corset\, and fishnet tights\, because on June 4th\, DeLand Pride and the Absent Friends are bringing the cult classic “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” back to the Athens Theatre after much “antici… pation.” \nWhether you are experiencing “Rocky” for the first or 100th time (as long as you are over the age of 18) we invite you to come and do “The Time Warp” again. \nThe evening will consist of a pre-show featuring several DeLand Pride drag performances (bring those $ bills for tips!) and the Absent Friends (with emcee Robert Baldwin) with their hysterical Rocky-virgin initiation fun\, the ever-popular 1975 20th Century Fox film\, live shadow cast (in other words\, costumed actors portraying the movie while it is being screened above)\, dancing\, and audience participation (with call backs and prop bags). \nThe film’s plot revolves around a newly engaged and admittedly naïve couple (Brad and Janet) who get stranded on the side of the road during a stormy night and seek refuge in the nearby castle of a strange (yet alluring) Dr. Frank-N-Furter. From there the story becomes increasingly more ridiculous\, raunchy\, and above all\, fun. \nTo make the show more accessible\, we have moved the “midnight showing” up to 8:00 p.m.\, opening with all the “normal” fun frivolity of welcomes\, initiating the “Rocky Virgins\,” and giving patrons a chance to purchase bags filled with audience participation props. \nThe audience is encouraged to come in costume\, sing along with the songs\, dance the dances\, and utilize their approved audience participation props. \nAny unapproved props will be confiscated at the door. \nFl state law requires us to state that this event is an 18 and over event only.
