The Athens Theatre invites you to be “In the Room Where It Happens,” a Hamilton-inspired spring fundraiser where Broadway talent meets the Athens stage for one unforgettable night.
Headlining the evening are four stars from the Broadway phenomenon Hamilton. Miguel Cervantes, who portrayed Alexander Hamilton in both the Chicago production from September 2016 until the production closed in January 2020, and on Broadway from 2020 to 2024, brings the intensity and passion that made his performance one of the most celebrated interpretations of the role. Cervantes previously appeared on Broadway in American Idiot and If/Then, and has been seen on television in Madam Secretary, Person of Interest, and The Blacklist.
Joining him is Morgan Anita Wood, who made her Broadway debut as Eliza in Hamilton after nearly eight years with the production. She also performed in the touring company that starred Lin-Manuel Miranda in Puerto Rico and has appeared in productions such as Kinky Boots at the Hollywood Bowl and Loving and Loving at Actors Theatre of Louisville. Audiences may also recognize her from the recent season of Tim Robinson’s The Chair Company on HBO Max.
Also appearing is Tamar Greene, Broadway’s longest-running George Washington in Hamilton. Known for his rich, powerful vocals, Greene has performed leading roles on Broadway, national tours, and regional stages across the country, and recently starred as Coalhouse Walker Jr. in Ragtime at Stages St. Louis.
Rounding out the guest artists is Ta-Tynisa Wilson, a Hamilton Schuyler Sister standby who has also appeared in productions including Dreamgirls, The Color Purple, and The Bodyguard, and was recognized nationally as a Top 24 contestant on Season 10 of American Idol.
These Broadway performers will share the stage with members of the Athens Theatre family in a thrilling concert inspired by Hamilton and the music and storytelling that made it a global sensation.
This special evening will help support the Athens Theatre Youth Academy, the ongoing preservation and care of our historic 104-year-old theatre, and help offset recent reductions in arts funding at the state and other levels.
Black tie suggested. Festivities begin at 7 PM and The show is at 8 PM. Premium seat holders may also add an optional $100 VIP package, which includes access to the VIP tent with passed hors d’oeuvres, dessert, and an open bar.
