Event Series Event Series: Ladies Taking Liberty

Tuesday, November 2 - Tuesday, November 2

Suze Peace presents a play dedicated to women oriented non-profits, such as the League of Women Voters of Volusia County

Ladies Taking Liberty

“Ladies Taking Liberty” celebrates the 101st Anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment. The show explores the history of suffrage, from Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony to Carrie Chapman Catt and Alice Paul, from Sojourner Truth to America’s young poet-laureate, Amanda Gorman. It commemorates the work and achievements of the many, sung and unsung, through theatrical vignettes, storytelling, song, and poetry. Historic images, documents, and the spoken word will shed light on the long road to equality. The show concludes with a glimpse from then to now, highlighting how voting rights must not be taken for granted.

“Ladies Taking Liberty” is directed by Deborah McShane and produced by Suze Peace.
