Rocky Horror Picture Show with Shadow Cast

Don your leather jacket, corset, and fishnet tights—because DeLand Pride and the Absent Friends are bringing the cult classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show back to the Athens Theatre after much “antici…pation.”

Experiencing “Rocky” for the first time? Or maybe the 100th? We invite you to come do “The Time Warp” again!

The fun begins before the film with live drag performances from DeLand Pride (bring those $ bills for tips!), followed by the Absent Friends and emcee Robert Baldwin welcoming—and hilariously initiating—our “Rocky Virgins.”

Then it’s time for the 1975 20th Century Fox cult classic, accompanied by a live shadow cast performing the movie onstage as it plays on the big screen. Expect dancing, callbacks, audience participation, and plenty of Rocky Horror mayhem!

The film follows newly engaged and admittedly naïve couple Brad and Janet, who find themselves stranded on a stormy night and seek refuge in the nearby castle of the strange (yet alluring) Dr. Frank-N-Furter. From there, things become increasingly ridiculous, raunchy, and, above all, fun.

Audience-participation prop bags will be available for purchase at both performances. Come in costume, sing along, dance the dances, shout the callbacks, and put those approved props to good use!
