The Athens Theatre Company presents

A Story Time Favorite Brought to Life. A Musical, Seussical, Horton.

Seussical, Jr.

Book by Lynn Ahrens Stephen Flaherty, Music by Stephen Flaherty, Lyrics by Lynn Ahrens
Co-conceived by Eric Idle
Based on the works of Dr. Seuss.

Everybody’s favorite mischievous cat in a red and white top hat involves a little boy in a decidedly musical version of the all-time-favorite Dr. Seuss story, Horton Hears a Who. Spoiler: the Sour Kangaroo fails to triumph over Horton’s generosity, patience, and conscientiousness.

Run time: 60 minutes, plus 15-minute intermission

CREATIVE

Before each Athens Theatre Company production opens, our designers are hard at work designing costumes, sets, and lights. Below are some of the designs that our amazing team have created for this show!

Bringing the pages of Dr. Seuss to life on our stage, our production’s Set Designer Laura McPherson has been busy designing and painting imagination into reality, Here are two of her Seuss-alicious set designs.

From elephants and kangaroos, to birds, hatted cats, and witty bitty Whos, our Costume Designer Tamara Marke-Lares has been busily designing and creating a menagerie of Seuss-inspired costumes.  Here are several of her designs.

We thank Mike Kitaif for our production photos.

“I took my Godsons, 3 and 2, to see Seussical the Musical today and it was absolutely amazing!!! The boys were mesmerized and all of the ushers were so attentive to the boys. I’ve seen many shows here and I’ve never seen one that wasn’t professionally done!!”
