Now, in the kingdom nearby, there lived the beloved King and Queen, who were expecting a baby girl. But the Queen grew ill & needed the magic from the golden flower. The flower healed the queen, and a beautiful baby girl was born with glowing golden hair. A princess named Rapunzel. To celebrate her birth, the Kingdom launched lanterns into the sky.

But in every fairy tale, there is a villain. Mother Gothel, who knew of the restorative powers of this enchanted flower, broke into the castle to steal the child and her magical powers. She hid Rapunzel away in a tower deep in the forest and raised her as her own.

As hard as Mother Gothel tried to conceal Rapunzel from the world, the walls of her tower could not hide everything. Every year on her birthday, the kingdom launched thousands of lanterns into the sky in hopes that one day their lost princess would return.
